RACE CATEGORIES – NEW FOR 2019:
The Steamboat Amazing Race has two options for participation: the competitive In It To Win It and the friendly Here For The Fun.
For both categories:
- A big part of what makes the Amazing Race fun and exciting is the element of the unknown, which requires you and your teammate to communicate and strategize on the go. For this reason, the exact directives for each race category are intentionally kept secret until the race begins.
- Prizes are awarded to the first two finishing teams in each category.
- Teams from both categories are eligible to win prizes for best sportsmanship, best costumes, and top team fundraising.
- Race Directors carefully review finishing teams’ race packets to confirm challenge completions prior to determining winners.
“In It To Win It” (Competitive)
This is the more physically and mentally demanding category. Teams participating in this category must strictly adhere to all race directives to be eligible to place first or second. Attention to instructions and detail is a must.
“Here For The Fun” (Friendly)
Teams participating in this category have fewer challenges to complete, and race directives will not be as intensive.
PRIZES
You know what you like! Prizes are not assigned to specific winning feats. Instead, each winning team gets to pick your prize bundle based on the following order:
- In It To Win It – First finishing team
- In It To Win It – Second finishing team
- Here For The Fun – First finishing team
- Here For The Fun – Second finishing team
- Overall – Best sportsmanship
- Overall – Best costumes
2019 RACE PRIZE BUNDLES
All race prize bundles also include an Altitude Snacks gift box ($30 value).
The 2 prize bundles not chosen by winning teams are given away as door prizes.
